AWANA is a nondenominational international club for boys & girls ages 3 through highschool.
Our AWANA club is for boys and girls, 4 Years Old through 8th grade. It is organized
with the purpose of reaching boys and girls for Christ. We are very excited
about our new year in AWANA. We look forward to teaching your
children about our Lord and helping them to learn about the Bible, missions,
and reaching others for Christ.
Our AWANA program meets every Wednesday from 4:30 to 6:00 at the church. The children can take
the bus directly from school and get off at the church parking lot. They will be supervised with
preclub activities.
Your child will bring home an entrance booklet the first time they come or if they move
up from another club. This is the first plateau of achievement at which
every child starts. Look through this booklet to familiarize
yourself with the AWANA program. The booklet briefly explains the program
and the award system. As part of the AWANA program, children are expected
to do memory work every week at home. When they have passed the entrance
booklet, they will have earned the right to wear the AWANA uniform and
purchase their First Handbook which they will use all year. Each clubber
earns awards as they pass sections in their handbooks.
Each club night is started with the opening Flag Ceremony. After this, children work in their handbooks, play
structured games and meet for Council Time
During Handbook
Time, your child will be reciting sections of their handbook, which
they have prepared at home. Help from a parent can mean a lot in aiding
your child in completing their book, especially for the Sparks and Cubbies.
The book's sections must be passed in order. The child is allowed two
"helps" per section. Children may prepare more than one section
each night. The children work through their handbooks at their own pace.
Game Time
is held on the outside AWANA Circle or on cold days inside. Each group is divided into
team colors and earns points for their team. Game Time is a great time
to practice good sportsmanship and a chance to expend energy and have
FUN! In an effort to keep everyone safe, please have your child wear only
sneakers or some other rubber soled shoes that fully cover their feet.
Accidents can happen when sandels, dress shoes, or open-backed shoes are
worn.
Council Time
consists of songs, prayer requests, sharing,a spiritual message and awards. During
the evening, points have been awarded to the clubbers for bringing their
Handbooks, being on time, wearing their uniform, passing sections, bringing
visitors and points at game time. Scores are added up and the winning team for the
night is announced and awarded "AWANA SHARES". The play money
can be redeemed at the AWANA store for prizes. The AWANA store will be
held about once a month.
Throughout the AWANA year, there will also be contests, special theme nights and outside club
activities.
The Bible says in Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when
he is old, he will not depart from it." Realizing that young people
today are confronted with more difficult choices than ever before, our
club seeks to help establish your child's values on a firm Biblical foundation
which will provide direction for their daily lives. We desire that our
AWANA clubbers come to know God's love for them, surrender their lives
to God's leadership and go on to lead lives in service to Jesus.
We hope your child enjoys their time with us!
